MARTORELL, SPAIN. APRIL 7, 2020. An assembly operator from the SEAT automobile company protected with a surgical mask and gloves works on the assembly line of the OXyGEN respirator to fight Covid-19. The Spanish automobile company SEAT due to the state of alarm decreed by the Government of Spain on March 14 due to the Covid sanitary crisis has paralyzed the production shifts of vehicles. A team of 150 workers from the SEAT factory in Martorell (Barcelona) have stopped manufacturing cars to make respirators that help COVID-19 patients. They reuse mechanical parts like the windshield wiper motor that now powers the respirator. The respirator is called OxyGEN and is the result of the intense effort of Protofy.xyz, SEAT, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital and Research Institute, the Hospital Clínic, other companies and the administration.
