GALAPAGOS, ECUADOR - NOVEMBER 12: Galapagos Islands, situated in the Pacific Ocean some 1,000 km from the South American continent, with 19 islands and the surrounding marine reserve have been called a unique ‘living museum and showcase of evolution’. In 1979 UNESCO declared the Galápagos Islands Natural Heritage for Humanity. Carolina Larrea Angermeyers, biology and naturalist guide in the islands, that takes care to protect local animal and plant life and research about animals migration at the Galapagos Island, said us, that Galapagos National Park is going to regulate visits of tourists to preservate the local animal and plant life of those untouched islands. The new regulations will start on February 2012 and go hand in hand with the concept of “conscious tourism,” an idea developed by Ecuador, which includes sustainable and ethical tourism. In the picture takes between 26th and 31st October, we can see a marine iguana on November 12, 2011 in Galapagos, Ecuador. (Photo by Patricio Realpe/ChakanaNews)
