TAGAERIS KILLED BY LOGGERS IN ECUADOR 018.JPG
ECUADOR HISTORICAL MEMORY. 2022-04-15. Ñoneno - Orellana - Ecuador 2008-02-15. In February 2008, 5 indigenous people were murdered by order of logging companies that radically exploit the Amazon area of the Yasuní National Park, where the uncontacted Tagaeri and Taromenani peoples live. The Tagaeris and Taromenani are in voluntary isolation and in danger of extinction and their territory has been declared an intangible zone. The logging companies that exploit cedar and mahogany trees and the oil companies that exploit the Yasuní area in an invasive manner and the leaders of the community of Ñoneno on the banks of the Shiripuno River, belonging to the Waorani nationality, showed the spears of the non- contacted and allowed entry to the alleged area where they were killed by loggers during an 18-hour trip in canoes with personnel from the National Police and the Ecuadorian Armed Forces.
