ARANDA DE DUERO, BURGOS (SPAIN), APRIL, 5, 2015. In the last day of Holy Week, on Resurrection Sunday, Aranda de Duero, celebrates the traditional “Bajada del Ángel”, which represented the angel who announced Christ resurrection to the Virgin. This year, Ainara Helguera, a six year old girl, dressed as an angel has removed the mourning robe of the Virgin, after she has been pulled up and down, near the image of Christ resurrect. La “Bajada del Ángel”, is declared as a festivity of National Tourist Interest, dating from the sixteehth century and is one of the highlights of Aranda´s Easter. The event is organized by the brotherhood of Misericordia or Las Candelas, whose creation dates from the fifteenth century.
