COVID-19 PÍLLARO WOMEN MAKE MASKS 005.JPG
PILLARO, ECUADOR - MARCH 22: In the context of the world health crisis caused by COVID-19, citizen solidarity is an important protagonist, also in Ecuador. In the Píllaro canton, Tungurahua province, due to the lack of masks in pharmacies, the skilled hands of the women of the Peace Committee in the 24 de Mayo neighborhood have made several dozen homemade masks, which have been delivered to the population, which may be more vulnerable being in rural areas. Masks, even if they are imperfect or homemade, as health professionals affirm, are not an effective barrier to infection, but they can help curb it and also prevent shortages in healthcare personnel.
