QUITO, ECUADOR - MAY 14: Venezuelans camp outside the Venezuelan embassy in Quito demanding help to return to their homes, due to the health and economic emergency unleashed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Ecuador's borders have been closed to contain the spread of the new coronavirus. The request of the Venezuelan population is to be participants in humanitarian flights that return them to their country, due to the critical situation they are experiencing. Migrants do not have access to the public health system, many of them have been evicted from their homes for not being able to pay the rent. The majority of the Venezuelan population in Quito lives from day to day, selling things and therefore there is little work now in the midst of the closure. The situation in Ecuador continues to be critical; according to the latest data provided by the Ministry of Health, as of May 14 there are 30.502 confirmed cases of coronaviruses in Ecuador and 2.338 deaths, to which must be added 1.561 probable deaths from Covid-19.
