COVID-19- VENEZUELANS IN CRISIS IN CHILE 003.JPG
SANTIAGO DE CHILE, CHILE - MAY 17: More than 400 Venezuelan people are trapped in Chile, especially in Santiago, Chile, a few hours after a total quarantine was decreed in the metropolitan region of Chile to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. Many of these people are camped outside the Venezuelan embassy in Chile, without obtaining a response from Ambassador Arévalo Méndez. This group of foreign residents are especially vulnerable, because many of them are undocumented older adults, who have lost their jobs due to the expansion of Covid-19 in Chile. Today they live in tents donated by residents of the Providencia commune sector and survive on food donated by contributions from independent people and small businesses.
