DAÑOS EN LA SALUD POR EXPLOTACIÓN PETROLERA 037.JPG
ECUADOR HISTORICAL MEMORY. 2022-04-15. Sucumbios - Ecuador 2005-04-11. The oil exploitation in the Ecuadorian Amazon zone left several environmental and health damages in the peasant populations and in the indigenous peoples and nationalities, especially the Cofanes, Secoyas, Kichwas, Waoranis peoples and in the territories of uncontacted peoples such as the Tagaeris and Taromenanes. . The issue of finding the damage was in 2005, when we made a tour on the issue of Bilingual Education in the Cuyabeno area in the province of Sucumbíos and the Secoya leader Humberto Piaguaje pointed out the issue of damage to health in various towns. . We went to visit several families in different areas and towns. There we began to investigate personal health damage, which was affected by the issue of oil exploitation and the lack of a solution to environmental damage since 1960 by TEXACO and later by other oil companies. The Ecuadorian State was not interested in solving the damage to health, which was never addressed or attended to by any government in office. In the Sucumbíos area there is no good hospital or primary health center, because the State and the governments that exploit the countryside and that of the peoples and nationalities have neglected to give them at least good medical attention, after taking hundreds of of billions of dollars in oil exploitation. Even the Armed Forces of Ecuador provided supposed security to the oil companies, which paid them millions of dollars a year. Patricio Realpe/ChakanaNews
