JESUS DEL GRAN PODER 005.JPG
QUITO, ECUADOR - APRIL 19: Jesus del Gran Poder procession, that represents the viacrucis of Jesus, crosses the Center of Quito on Good Friday. It begins at 11:00 and ends at 3:00 pm, at which time approximately Jesus died after being crucified. The Verónicas are also part of this event and they represent the woman who broke through to wipe the sweat and face of Jesus with a cloth. The procession leaves San Francisco church with hundreds of hooded penitents, some of them barefoot. Cones or hooded penitents represent penance and they seek forgiveness. His suit is usually purple color that symbolizes the atonement. There are also cones with black suit that represent the mourning and those who have a wine suit represent the triumph or the glory.
