Riders of the town of San Bartolome de Pinares and other nearby destinations, pass through the fires with their horses in order to purify their beasts and the saint will deprive them of health and disease throughout the year. They are the “Luminarias” of San Bartolome de Pinares, religious and popular tradition, that dates 500 years ago, which is celebrated this year, as every January 16 in honor of San Antonio Abad, patron saint of animals, and as a symbol of purification.
