1990 LEVANTAMIENTO INDIGENA 004.jpg
ECUADOR HISTORICAL MEMORY. 2022-04-15. QUITO 1990. In 1990, prior to Inti Raymi, the Ecuadorian Indigenous uprising was carried out. The beginning was on May 28 with the taking of the church of Santo Domingo. The social mobilization of the indigenous movement sought to change the power structures of the racist state of that time, which did not give them a social, educational, health and cultural presence. For this reason, the various struggles promoted the achievement of demands for the social and economic system for the benefit of the indigenous peoples and nationalities and of all the exploited, such as the possession and defense of land, indigenous territories and natural resources, collective rights, Bilingual Intercultural Education, Intercultural Health, recognition of the multinational character of our society and of the Ecuadorian State.
